WORLWIDE THE POOR CHILDRENS ASSISTANT PROJECT

The Poor Children’s Assistance Project is a Christian orphanage home located in Port au Prince in Haiti. Directed by Pastor Nicolas Louis Juste and with the help of concerned Christian volunteers, they co-ordinate efforts for God’s love to be demonstrated in kind and deed, ie: Haitian young people in need of education, vocation training, food, clothes, medical attention, material resources.

The Poor Children Assistance Project is under the oversight of Worldwide Missions Outreach Ministries based in the United Kingdom, locally managed by the Redeemers Mission Church of God (Port-au-prince Haiti). Worldwide Missions Outreach Ministries regularly support the Poor Children’s Assistance Project but face difficulties to meet the population’s needs.

HAITI

  • Haiti has remained the least-developed country in the Americas.
  • Comparative social and economic indicators show Haiti falling behind other low-income developing countries (particularly in the hemisphere) since the 1980s.
  • Haiti now ranks 146th of 177 countries in the United Nations Human Development Index (2006). About 80% of the population was estimated to be living in poverty in 2003.

  • Of Haiti's 8.7 million inhabitants, just below half are illiterate. The literacy rate of 52.9% is the lowest in the region. Haiti counts 15,200 primary schools, of which 90% are non-public and managed by the communities, religious organizations or NGOs. The enrollment rate for primary school is 67%, of which less than 30% reach 6th grade. Secondary schools enroll 20% of eligible-age children.
  • Charity organizations like WMOM are currently working on building schools for children as well as providing them necessary school supplies.
  • 80% live below the World Bank’s definition of poverty & 80% of the population’s average income is $100 a year.
  • 1% of the population would be considered "Middle Class" by the Industrialized Nation’s definition.
OUR ACTIONS

We currently have an orphanage with 1100 Children in great needs. Past of every single child is different but we want to give to each of them a second chance in life.

All the orphanage’s children are going to different schools around Port au Prince. Presently, we are only able to provide them one hot meal a week and the rest of the week with hard bread and water.

OUR GOALS

To reach out to the un-reached children and giving them a second chance in life: The Poor children’s assistance project can take control of the Children’s future, solve their problems, and rely on itself with the right support.

To raise funds to finance our projects: This work involves fund raising for basic school (building programme, infrastructure, improvement), for the Orphanage and its educational team (educational programme), for clothes and food.

Fighting poverty, we fund long-term work worldwide and train poor people to lift themselves out of it.
